HOW SHOULD THE PRE-COATED METAL BE HANDLED AND STORED?

It is very important to note that pre-coated metal being a finished product required extra care in transport, storage, and handling as well in the methods assembly.

1. Packing

Final product to packed by using nylon or plastic straps in place of metal straps to avoid damage to the coating.

2. Transport

It is essential that while transporting, the materials be well protected from damp weather and from abrasion.

3. Storage

Pre-coated material must be stored away from corrosive atmosphere, water and damp weather, and it should be stored in covered area.

4. Handling

Handle pre-coated metal very carefully. First of all use clean hands preferably with dry gloves to avoid abrasion against each other or prevent from scratching and other damages. Don’t roll the pre-coated coils.

5. In the workshop

a) Use clean equipment.
b) Cutting / shearing equipment are free from burrs.
c) Feed tables are to be covered with soft material to prevent scratches and damage to the coating.
d) Recommended cleaning agents are to be used for cleaning purpose.
e) Don’t use any type of solvent or thinner for cleaning purpose, it will soften the film and durability will be reduced.
f) Don’t cut the pre-coated sheets by using grinder or gas cutting.
g) Don’t weld the pre-coated material. It will damage the entire coatin
h) If guard film is applied during roll forming, remove it after installation immediately.
i
) Don’t store pre-coated coils more than six months especially GI coils.
